Week 5: Body Talk: Eisner and Thompson

This week I read the graphic novel A Contract with God by Will Eisner. The story is inspired from Eisner's emotions dealing with the loss of his daughter Alice. In the story, the protagonist carves a literal contract with God on a piece of stone so that he can have success and good fortune later on in his life.
The motif of the stone tablet is shown throughout the artwork of the novel. The illustrations that space out each chapter feature a stone tablet literally saying "A Contract with God," which brings us back to the title of the novel. Overall, the illustrations of this novel are all black and grey, but they are very interesting to view and personally give me insight into a different drawing style.
